Supporting Positive Birth Experience

Birth Doula Package

Helping a woman to achieve a positive birth experience is what brought me to doula training in the first place.  My aim is to promote a safe and supportive environment, allowing you to feel confident about your own amazing abilities as a woman and mother-to-be.
As a birth doula I offer two antenatal appointments so we can get to know each other and establish a relationship. It is often helpful at this stage to discuss your birth preferences, any fears or concerns you have and to consider earlier births and the influence they may have on your current pregnancy. I will also be available for you to contact me outside these sessions if you need to.
I will then be 'on call' for you for the 4 weeks around your expected delivery date (38-42 weeks) and will attend the birth if that is your wish. During the postnatal period I offer two visits to help you adjust to your new life and to welcome your latest family member.
Fee: £500

I am currently working to support women in Bristol with the help of another Doula, Julie Macfarlane. Both Julie and myself have practiced as midwives and hold a shared philosophy of holistic care during pregnancy and birth. Julie is my 'back up' partner and will cover me if, due to unforeseen circumstances, I am unable to attend a birth.

Ante Natal Services/Birth Preparation

Providing support as you get closer to the birth, I aim to give you a little more space to relax and get ready for the big event. This may include some cooking or help with cleaning, arranging the nursery or an extra hand with cot construction! We can also look in more depth at labour and birth itself so you feel able to make informed decisions about your care. Appropriate topics may include the physiology of labour, your partner's role, self-help/pain relief options or possible medical interventions during labour. These sessions will be guided by your own needs so please feel free to bring any issue to the table!
Fee: £12 per hour.

Post Natal Services

This is a very flexible service and can be tailored to you and your family's needs. It can take the form of practical help around the house, such as washing clothes or tidying up, or something more intensive such as breastfeeding support.
Fee: £12 per hour.
